The Voice UK live show will move to Fridays

You have to admire The Voice for its willingness to draw a line under its feud with Britain's Got Talent. The BBC show will move to Friday nights in order to allow viewers to enjoy both shows.

The news comes today in The Sun as the newspaper reports that The Voice will move its first live quarter final to Friday night on June 7. BBC decided to move the show to avoid a clash with Britain's Got Talent's live final, which will air on June 8.

An insider on The Voice told The Sun: "The decision is in the best interest of viewers. Given the length of the quarter-final it would be impossible to avoid a clash."

While The Voice has been steadily increasing its ratings over the course of series two. Simon Cowell refuses to move BGT and seems determind to make viewers choose, The Voice has put the audience first which will be a winner with The Viewers.

Danny O'Donoghue commented. "I think we are better than Britains got talent of course but why make the public suffer? Simon Cowell seems to want all out war but that isn't good for the people who like to watch. The BBC have put the viewer first, so what does that say about ITV and Simon Cowell? It speaks volumes in my book.

The next episode will see the conclusion of the Battle Rounds as Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, Danny O'Donoghue and Will.i.am fill the last spots on their teams

Liverpool’s Voice contestant reveals how Danny O’Donoghue gave them a much-needed boost

Danny’s a great coach say artists

SCOUSE Voice contestants today told how Danny O’Donoghue gave them the boost they needed and insisted they have the best coach.

Huyton wedding singer Laura Oakes and Tuebrook musician Paul Carden both won a place on Team Danny.

The pair now need to secure their place in the next round of the competition as the battle stages continue next weekend Saturday, May 25.

But they have already had a big reaction since appearing on the BBC One show.

Laura, 22, said: “I was singing at a wedding when it was on so I had to watch it back, but I got lots of phone calls and texts from my family saying how proud they were and that it went well. “I do solo acoustic gigs too and usually it’s background music, people don’t pay attention, but they were all sat facing me and watching.

“When it finished two Scousers came up to me wanting to have a picture taken with me. “I didn’t think that was going to happen.

Singer Dido was also on hand to help out Danny O’Donoghue in the Voice UK battle rounds.

Paul was also cheered on by his proud mum who he said watched his blind audition back “a million times.”

He said: “I’m quite critical so I watched it back twice.

“I expected my friends to think I was selling out by doing something like that, but everyone was made up.

“I can’t wait to hear what I sounded like in the battle round because it’s bit of a blur.

“Getting on stage on primetime TV is priceless and Danny’s a great coach.

“Out of all the coaches he’s the most hands-on. We’re quite close in age so we’ve got a lot in common, apart from he’s got more money.”

The remaining artists, coached by Danny, Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am, feature in an extended battle show at 7.10pm on May 25.

Students given ‘Script’ for success

It’s a gig many established journalists would give their right hands for - an interview, in person, with one of the world’s most popular rock bands.

But it was a group a young wannabe journalists who got the opportunity of a lifetime on Tuesday when they were invited to a special interview session with The Script as part of the BBC Radio 1 Academy - which rolled into the city this month in advance of next week’s highly anticipated Big Weekend event.

The youngsters, aged from their mid teens to their mid 20s, took part in a workshop with local journalists (myself included) on how to research a subject matter, prepare questions and settle those nerves before being invited to an exclusive Live Lounge performance with Danny O’Donoghue, Mark Sheehan and Glen Power.

The band, who hail from Dublin, performed a stripped back cover of Rihanna’s song ‘Stay’ live on air with Alice Levine before treating the students and other invited guests to performances to two of their songs Millionaires and Hall of Fame.

The students were tasked with both reviewing the Live Lounge peformance and interviewing the band afterwards - during a 40 minute long session.

They were then tasked with writing up both articles - and one lucky student will win the chance to shadow a reporter for the day during the Big Weekend.

Most of the students hadn’t expected to get so close to the Script - and with some major fans in the mix, it proved to be a both a nerve- racking and inspiring experience.

And for The Script it was a chance to sing the praises of Derry. The band said they were excited to see Derry emerge from the past and embrace the music scene.

The told the students, and the audience at their Live Lounge Performance, they were looking forward to playing at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. They will take to the main stage on Sunday, May 26 - and promise to bring their biggest hits with them.

“It will be a case of don’t bore us, get to the chorus,” Danny O’Donoghue said, promising that Hall of Fame and The Man Who Can’t Be Moved will feature in the set list. “No one wants to hear the B-sides,” he said.

The event was one of a number of workshops run by BBC Radio One over the course of the week - which has also seen a number of the stations top DJs arriving in the city to broadcast from live from The Nerve Centre.

The Script Have A 'SMASHING' Time

A Classic Script Moment From December 2010

The Script break radio one DJ Greg James' mug.

It was just meant to be a harmless game of The Square with the Feet Up Friday audience, but, thanks to clumsy work by The Script, it ended up as a nightmare (sort of)

The Script tease Isle of Wight and V festival goers with a sexy Rihanna cover

Danny proves he has the voice with this emotional cover of Rihanna's Stay at the Radio 1 Live Lounge. Consider us fest-ready.

Danny from The Script makes some new friends. With rubbish hats

Yep, it's time to dig out the (still muddy) wellies, tents and sleeping bags because festival season will soon be underway, and within weeks you'll be sitting on someone's shoulders, blaring along at the top of your voice and contemplating all kinds of interesting headgear options as standard. And don't even try to say you won't, because you will.

Unless you hate festivals.

But for the rest of us actual fun types we'll soon be listening to music the only real way - drunk, in a field - and to get us in the mood, Danny O'Donoghue (oh, and the other guys from The Script) have done this ace cover of Rihanna's Stay which we really hope they'll be playing at the Isle of Wight Festival and V Festival.

You probably can't actually read this now because your eyes have gone all blurry, but how good was that? Danny's awesome vocals? The lovely harmonising? His pretty face? The sheer, raw emotion of it all? We're not embarrassed to admit we had a little cry, although that might just be because we're a bit tired today.

In fact, it's so brilliant we're prepared to overlook Danny's rubbish jumper and wooden beads combo. In fact we might even get some. To wear with our interesting head gear. And muddy everything else.

Danny bloody loves those beads

It's all coming together now. God we're excited.

Team Danny Battle 2 Conor Scott V Smith And Jones

Source: DannyODonoghue.Net

Conor Scott beats Smith and Jones at Battle Rounds

Conor Scott and Smith and Jones were the only artists from team Danny O’Donoghue featured on tonight’s episode of The Voice and The Script frontman revealed why he paired them for the Battle Rounds saying:

“They are both guitar players, they have both got youth on their side, I think it’s going to be an all out battle.”

Dan the man chose the song ‘Some Nights’ by Fun for the trio to perform and in rehearsals Dido was blown away by Conor, admitting:

“Conor’s voice is like …ooof…powerful.”

Danny said:

“Conor is a lot more able to shine because he is used to being alone and performing for a crowd, so I think Smith and Jones need to show them there are two people on stage.”

Smith and Jones were a little intimidated by their opponent and Katie confessed:

“That is one of our worries that when we’re on stage we’ll be like left behind.”

“This year we are Danny’s only duo, so we just hope Danny sees something in us over Conor.”

The strength of his voice could have been a disadvantage though and after Danny told him to pull back a little, Scott said:

I’m really loud. My mum always tells me to be quiet and to talk instead of shout.”

“This is a really big deal for me because if I go home, it’s back to busking. It’s not really an option I want to take.”

As the battle began we actually found ourselves wishing that these guys could just become a trio and go through together (how X Factor would that be?) as their voices all gelled so very well together.

We expected Conor to wipe the floor with the duo but actually they were very evenly matched to him and we actually felt that Katie out dancing and interacting with the crowd brought our eyes to their side of the stage more often.

After the song the coaches had their say and commented:

Will: I thought it was pretty cool. Everybody was having a jolly good time. Conor, Smith and Jones that’s a pretty nice group.

Tom: But it didn’t seem like a battle to me. They were all so much together that it was hard to try and split them up.

Danny: I have a really hard decision to make now. The winner of this battle for me is Conor.

Smith and Jones then waited on stage and waited to see if anyone would turn to steal them for their team, unfortunately Will didn’t want the duo and so the pair found themselves eliminated.

'He Hasn't Tried It On': The Voice's Sarah Cassidy Denies Romantic Involvemnent With 'Gentleman' Danny O' Donoghue

The Glaswegian beauty is happily dating fellow contestant Alex Buchanan

The Voice contestant Sarah Cassidy has denied that she was chatted up by judge Danny O’Donoghue.

The pretty brunette revealed in an interview that the Script frontman has been nothing but a gentleman towards her despite the rumours.

"Obviously he is a really great guy and has fun on the show," the Glaswegian songstress, who is currently dating fellow Voice contestant Alex Buchanan, told the Sunday People.

Danny has been candid about the fact that he is opening to finding love on the talent show while working on the second series and was linked to runner-up singer Bo Bruce just last year.

Cassidy added: "I bump into him in the corridor sometimes. But he hasn’t tried it on with me. He wouldn’t do that. He’s a real gentleman."

The 31-year-old singer also explained why she wanted to appear on The Voice rather than rival talent shows like Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor.

"It meant more to me being on The Voice. I wanted them to turn around because of my voice rather than anything else. Before I thought people would just pick me because of the way I looked… It means more to me to know that they like my voice."

Let's hope that puts an end to all the rumours!

Alice Barlow Says She IS Attracted To Danny O’Donoghue And Adds “We Had An Amazing Connection, I Felt Like He Understood Me!”

The Voice coach Danny O’Donoghue is of course en eligible bachelor these days, given that he split from his long-term girlfriend Irma Mali last year, when it was rumoured he was romantically involved with former finalist Bo Bruce…
And as we recently reported, ahead of the release of her debut album, Bo hinted that there was indeed a romance with Danny, which was scuppered by the show’s bosses amid fears of adverse publicity for the then ailing show.

However, it seemed history was repeating itself this year after The Scrip front man Danny took something of a shine to contestant Alice Barlow – who formerly starred on Hollyoaks – and she to him. But as Alice is in a relationship, that romance rumour fizzled out fairly rapidly.

But today, Alice – who of course left the contest last night having lost out in the battle rounds to Andrea Begley – has admitted that she is attracted to Danny while confessing that she has “an amazing connection” with him.

To The Sun’s TV Biz, Alice said, “Danny is a lovely man and he is very attractive but I do have a long-term boyfriend.

“When we were working together we had an amazing connection, I felt like he really understood me.”

She added, “I don’t want to say whether I have been in touch with him. No comment!”

As viewers have seen, Danny has been filmed cuddling Alice on occasions when she’s broken down as the pressure of the show got to her.

Of that, Danny recently said, “Alice broke down in rehearsals. I said to her ‘show me the real you, if there are walls you have been putting up, pop that first brick out, take a little peak out, let me see who is behind there’.”
