When it comes to music culture, themes like romance and intimacy will forever remain prevalent. From same-sex marriage to rape and violence awareness, the lyricism of this generation’s expression of love is being revolutionized. The emergent result sounds a bit like this:

1.“The Book of Love” by Peter Gabriel – Peter Gabriel starts us off with a perfect illustration of love through music. He even says about love, “..in fact, that’s where music comes from..”

2.“Good To You” by Marianas Trench ft. Kate Voegele – Two distinctively superior voices, Josh Ramsay of Marianas Trench, and rising singer/songwriter Kate Voegele join in perfect harmony to explain the grittiness and the run of emotions of new love.

3.“Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem ft. Rihanna – This iconic union of two of today’s biggest sensations, tackles many elements of the modern relationship. The song sheds much needed light on how close love and violence be.

4.“Until You” by Dave Barnes – This track may not go down in history as very popular however, it epitomized the feeling of finally finding the right type of love in a single human being.

5.“It’s So Easy” by Zooey Deschanel – This quirky and seductive artist has been rising quickly in television and music. She recorded this blissfully optimistic song as a feature on a compilation of various artists, all singing about the topic of the month–love.

6.“Fidelity” by Regina Specktor – The concept of fidelity has been constant in every era. So when this dangerously eclectic artist created such a personal composition of how difficult being faithful can be, it was a sure addition to this list.

7.“We Belong Together” by Gavin Degraw – A folksy spin on new-age rock yields quite a traditional take on love through nature, rendering it almost transcendental.

8.“Feel So Close” by Calvin Harris – A youthful and innovated artist who is musically wise beyond his years, produces a modern techno tune infused with an edge of piano.

9.“The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script – With the deep and personal rock of this Irish-based band, this track came as no surprise to listeners when it moved many upon release in 2008.

10.“Wildest Moments” by Jessie Ware – The U.K. stuns us again with a vocalist who managed to capture the soulful confliction of long-time love and how perfect in its obscurity it really can be.

11.“You and Me” by Ben Rector – A rising songwriter of creative roots claimed a truly gut-wrenching ballad that, while saddening most listeners, is undeniably relatable.

12.“Marry Me” by Train – A veteran group combines realism and idealism so gracefully that many couples have since added the song to their wedding playlists.

13.“Same Love” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis ft. Mary Lambert – Through deeply detailed beats that stem from narratives, this year’s new and innovative artist remains a symbol for anti-violence, marriage equality and antidiscrimination. Macklemore and Mary Lambert’s invention easily births a new vision for love and life.

14.“Shine Out” by Colour of London – This fairly new and little known group hit a goldmine with this track, as they let the topics of fervent daily struggle, racism and love all sing together in unison like “sisters and brothers.”

15. “The Wine We Drink” by Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors – This song easily made the cut by seamlessly personifying the quiet nobility of modern domesticity in a way that no other artist has been able to capture.

16.“Speechless” by Lady Gaga – Exploring the concept of holding in love, “Speechless” levels the average relationship with relationships surrounded by fame, glamour and audacity (such as the artist’s). Even with six albums produced and major awards won, Lady Gaga experiences love in the same dysfunctional and sometimes acquiescent way as everyone else.

17.“We Belong” by Everly – This creation is a fierce attempt to half carry on with, half defend love, while aptly attributing it to a raging storm.

18.“Poison and Wine” by The Civil Wars – Confliction is a clear theme in this well-crafted duet. Though they joined forces for only a small compilation, it sparked an outrageous success for these two artists, and this melancholic track is one that helped make it all happen.

19.“Who You Love” by John Mayer ft. Katy Perry – “Who You Love” is a recent radio sensation from two perfectly matched artists. It has undertones of marriage equality and it puts at ease some of the emotions gone through in new relationships. The song has a calming and reassuring demeanor for listeners who need it.

20.“I and Love and You” by The Avett Brothers – This slow piece is the perfect way to embody how universal and intensely static ‘love’ is. It becomes the hardest thing to admit, but the hardest to deny as well. In the artists’ words, “All exits look the same.”

Air Traffic Control Glitch Finally Resolved

 

Technical problems that caused delays and cancellations at airports across the UK and Ireland have been resolved, the National Air Traffic Service (Nats) said at At 7.30pm tonight.

"The problem that arose this morning with the ground communications system in the area control operations room at Nats Swanwick has now been resolved and operations are returning to normal..

So now Danny O'Donoghue is the man who along with hundreds of other passengers can now be moved....

Air control glitch delays flights - Poor Danny

Airline passengers suffered a day of delays and frustration as a telephone system glitch at air traffic control caused major disruption at airports across the UK and Ireland.

Hundreds of flights were cancelled or delayed as the National Air Traffic Service (Nats) said engineers were working to try to fix the problem which arose at its centre in Swanwick, Hampshire. Thousands of people were caught up in the chaos, which hit major airports including Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick. Passengers are also expected to be affected as knock-on effects hit flights on Sunday.

Many passengers expressed their anger on Twitter and spoke of "chaotic scenes" at airports, but some took the situation much lighter:

Danny O'Donoghue, lead singer with The Script and a judge on BBC talent show The Voice, wrote: "Stranded @ the airport , anyone got any suggestions on passing time ...."

Belfast International Airport and Dublin Airport reported disruption, with a number of cancellations. It said about 1,300 flights, nearly 8% of all traffic in Europe, had been "severely delayed".

More than 100 Ryanair flights to and from the south of England have been affected, with 10 cancelled so far. The airline said: "We apologise to affected passengers, however these circumstances are entirely beyond our control."

Massaging the SCRIPT in NYC

From The Good Ole Days of 2009 November 16th

Singer  Danny O'Donoghue said he really enjoyed the Deep Tissue massage I gave him. He said it was "the best massage I've ever had in my life!".

The Irish band The Script are in the USA on tour and have already been on the TV shows 'Ellen', 'MTV total request live' and 'The David Letterman show', all in one week! They are really on their way up to the top. I thought to myself, while in their company with all the buzz around them, this is what it may have felt like for the Beatles on their first ever US tour. Not to that extreme, but I could sense they are about to explode into the BIG time over here in the USA. They also spend most of their time in hotel rooms as they have been touring non stop for the last 2 years, which is really hard on a person. I toured a couple times with bands and it is HELL on the body. Irregular sleeping habits, eating habits, different beds every night, people around you wanting to party every day and night- and I can only imagine how hard it must be to always be away from friends and loved ones for touring artist. They must feel lonely in the hotel rooms. Everyone around them being overly friendly and kind, superficial, always wanting something from them.

During his 2 hour massage, his iTunes were on shuffle and lots of lovely music was coming out of it. A few songs that came on were completely new to me. They sounded great and the singer sounded a bit like Stevie Wonder. I asked him "who's this?" and he said, humbly "this is us". I was like WHAT!!???? They sound great! When I told a couple friends I was on my way to massage the Script on the first night, they told me "oh, the boy band from Ireland" – so I was expecting a Back Street Boy situation, you know, lots of dancing, rather tedious music but I was very pleasantly surprised to see them, hear them, meet them. My friends were wrong. They ARE a band from Ireland and they ARE male and do have thousands of screaming females at their shows but that is all they have in common with boy bands. They write ALL of their own lyrics and music, just three members in the band (as I said, the bassist is a touring bass player). They don't wear matching costumes on stage and/or dance like 'Dancing Fools', they are fantastic. They opened for Paul McCartney on one whole tour. They all praised Paul and said how nice he was to them.

Fame is not as wonderful as one may think it. I have been around famous people most of my life and most seem trapped by their fame. Isolation and panic are always present. I feel for these folks. The least I can do is make them feel good with the best massage I can possibly give them. That is exactly what I did for the Script. I know they will never forget my hands of steel. The bassist was a bit afraid of my hands haha, as he heard how strong they were, but I showed him that I adjust my strength according to whom I am massaging and how their muscles feel to me. The bassist, Ben Sargeant , from the UK, is a touring (and studio sometimes?) member for the band, not a core member. He is a sweety-pie too. They all are. In fact my  face hurt from laughing after being around them.

They are all so down to earth and ALL have their heads on straight; no bullshit. They are very driven, honest, HUMBLE and just plain fucking NICE. They are fun, hilarious yet not sarcastic or mean (like some up and coming bands I have met in the past). They are NOT letting success go to their heads. None of them seem to have a vain bone in their body, just plain cool. Their Mom's did a good job raising these guys, that is for SURE. Their tour manager (not mentioning his name even though he is a close friend) keeps things running super smooth too, they are on a roll!

It's Danny's night as Script are toast of town on Arthur's Day

Raise a glass: The Script's Danny O'Donoghue

STOUT supporters of Arthur's Day raised their glasses last night despite grumblings this year against the annual music event.

Dreamt up five years ago as a celebration of the Irish pub, like any good boozer it's had its fair share of rows, with Christy Moore and Mike Scott of the Waterboys criticising the event.

All that was forgotten at 5.59pm last night – or 17.59 as the drinks company would have it – as punters raised their pint to Arthur, commemorating the year in which the founder of Guinness set up shop in St James's Gate.

The toast was the cue for acts to perform at pubs all over Ireland.

One of the first to plug in was The Script at The Ivy House in Dumcondra.

And golfer Rory McIlroy was ushered in as special guest for the rock star's final gig of the night at Whelan's.

The 24-year-old star soaked up the atmosphere with a few friends in the Wexford Street venue while Tourism Minister Leo Varadkar enjoyed the smooth soul sounds of Bobby Womack in Dakota on South William Street.

Secret

As with every Arthur's Day, the line-up of who was playing where remained a secret until last night.

Singers Emili Sande, Janelle Monae and The Manic Street Preachers all appeared at intimate venues across the capital.

Earlier this week, singer Danny O'Donoghue had defended Arthur's Day but their spirited performance last night did more for Diageo than a dozen PR spin doctors. It was pure joy: a stadium act in a local pub and a show that regulars will remember for years.

Even the achievements of Dublin footballers was celebrated.

"We're going to have the best night ever. We won the Sam, let's celebrate," Danny told an ecstatic crowd.

At one point Danny called for three pints of Guinness from the bar which grateful punters passed over the heads to reach the band on-stage.

Shane Carthy, who co-owns The Ivy House with his brother, said they had no idea The Script were playing his pub until they turned up.

"Our regulars will be talking about this for years," he said.

"There were no drunken rows, no injuries – just a world-class act putting on a first-class show in a local boozer.

This was the controversial Arthur's Day at its best.

1,500,000 Arthur’s Day punters to down record number of pints

THIRSTY punters are set to sink 1.5million pints of Guinness today

Millions of people across the globe will join in the toast to Arthur Guinness at 17.59 today.

Lovers of the black stuff in 55 countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Japan, Singapore and South Korea, will enjoy the celebrations.

The event marks 254 years since Arthur Guinness signed the 9,000 year lease on the St James’s Gate Brewery in Dublin.

More than 1,000 home-grown and international artists including pop legend Danny O’Donoghue’s The Script will perform tonight across Ireland.

Diageo has pledged €3million over three years to provide funding, mentoring and promotional support towards the Arthur Guinness Projects creative and cultural initiative.

Danny O'Donoghue got me hammered, reveals chat show host Carr

TV funnyman Alan Carr is famous for offering his celebrity guests bizarre concoctions from his drinks globe but it seems his Irish guests are the ones who leave him worse for wear.

The comic said drinking with The Script's Danny O'Donoghue left him feeling very tipsy on the set of the Channel 4 show.

He said: 'When I interviewed Tom Jones and Danny O'Donoghue from The Voice.' When Westlife appeared on the show almost two years ago to talk about their split the comedian joined the band in downing four triple shots of super-strength spirit Aftershock in just 20 minutes.

It left him bleary-eyed and referring to the band The Saturdays as The Sundays.

When The Script's O'Donoghue and Jones appeared last year to talk about The Voice they ended up revealing how the judges pulled a few all-night sessions since becoming friends on the BBC Show.

The pair then proceeded to down shots of whiskey and encouraged the chat show host to join them. The comedian, who won a Bafta last year for his series, also said he is amazed to be celebrating doing 100 shows.

He said in an interview with Heat magazine: 'I still think they've added it up wrong.' Carr revealed

Carr said the Beckhams would be his dream guests after he met up with them for dinner recently. He told Heat: 'I got drunk when I had dinner with the Beckhams. I don't remember the night but I do remember saying, "When are you coming on Chatty Man?" 'I get a bit over friendly when I have wine so I'm sure I put him right off.

'Victoria's a right laugh. She would love it on the show and I think the drinks globe would be empty when she left.'

THE BAND ORIGINALLY GETS TOGETHER TO GET THE ATTENTION OF BEX – THE HOTTEST GIRL IN SCHOOL. IS SHE BASED ON A REAL GIRL?

Yes – she’s based on a girl from school I was completely enamoured with. Interestingly a lot of boys who’ve read the book have come to me and said they know that girl – Which is really funny!

THE BOOK IS HILARIOUS. BUT THERE IS A SERIOUS SIDE TOO.

Yes there are certainly a couple of very poignant moments with Bex and the lead guitarist who is very much in love with her. He’s not one of the cool kids, but through this great girl he gains confidence and comes out of his shell

THE SCRIPT ARE REALLY INVOLVED WITH THE BOOK TOO. TELL US ABOUT THAT.

The idea to release free preview chapters two at a time on our website actually came from them. My band toured with them a few times and we became very good friends. They read the book and they came up with the idea to bring the book alive through music and record The Rockateers demos which you can listen to at www.therocknrolldiaries.com

WERE THEY INVOLVED WITH THE MUSIC?

We recorded everything in The Script’s studio. They’d come in and listen to the songs and gave us their feedback. They are such good songwriters and being around them was just so inspiring.

How Rude Sir Bob Geldof !! poor Danny

After their performance on the Isle of Wight Sir Bob Geldof talked to some of the media and some of us from the Dublin Weekender were lucky enough (or unlucky depending how you look at it)
We were surprised the Irishman was not quite as gracious as we once thought.

In case you don't know who Sir Bob Geldof is, he was a founder of the 'Live Aid', 'Band Aid' charities with none other than Bono from U2. Both are known as great singers & philanthropists.

Bob Geldof had hardly toweled off before Sky News jumped on him wanting his thoughts on Nelson Mandela, the Olympics, the G8, Drop The Debt and the role of China in geo-politics.

‘My head is not in the right place to think about any of that,’ says Geldof. ‘I have just been on stage leaping around like a salmon.’Except, of course, Geldof doesn't use the word ‘salmon’. He deploys that most controversially blunt of expletives. Geldof swears like most people breathe and if sensitive souls are troubled, well his advice is almost inevitable.

‘F*** it,’ Geldof guffaws, would be a decent title should he get around to writing the sequel to his audaciously titled best-seller Is That It?.

‘But no-one would read it,’ he frets. ‘Who in their right mind would be interested in the last 20 years of my life?’

Danny O’Donoghue would. The handsome and enigmatic singer with The Script (and star of TV’s The Voice) is hovering humbly at Geldof’s elbow, attempting to attract his hero’s attention. Waiting to be able to have a few words with  Geldof telling him how he loved his set.

This is the piece where we get angered, and we never thought we would say it but he is an egotistical and most arrogant man. 

He exhales slowly, barely making eye contact with Danny, almost treating him as nothing but Danny being the sort of guy that he is ignores Geldof's attitude  and says: 

‘Well done on… everything.’

‘You’re amazing,’ is all a plainly terrified Danny can manage, like any fan meeting their idol.

'Yep,’ snaps Geldof and stalks off.

Are you as shocked as we are? We are still trying to get over the fact that this 'great' man everyone admires was just a total ass. If he acts like that with a fellow performer how on earth is he with other fans? He acts like we all owe him a living well here's a fact. 'You did a great thing, but somehow you have turned into something nasty.

Later on in another interview he said he thought of Bono as an annoying younger brother, a very rich annoying younger brother.'

  

Asked later how Danny felt with being almost swatted away by the star he very graciously answered. 'The man had just finished an energetic set, was pounced on by reporters then gets this star struck idiot here wanting to speak to him. he was bound to be tired.' 

We just had to say 'We haven't seen you act that way with your fans' Danny's answer is simply 'That's different, he probably thought I wanted to steal information from him.'

Danny laughs in the way only Danny can then fobs the whole episode off and carries on as normal. We hasten to add that means he then went to chat to some fans. It is so nice to see a band that is humble and remember their roots.

'They know it is the fans who put them where they are today and they don't intend to forget it.‘

Quitting The Voice has seen demand for tickets for Jessie J and The Script soar

 

The Script have seen demand for tickets to see them live increase by 110% since Danny publicly quit the voice. 

Seatwave have also reported searches made on their site for more tickets or more live show announcements have sometimes sent the site into meltdown. It seems everyone wants to see The Script now and more so now that Danny has left The Voice. 

Ticket sales had increased during his time on the show but once his announcement to leave was confirmed then the hunt for tickets and shows went crazy 

“Ticket sales for The Script increased by 49% during Danny’s time on The Voice but once he left it went up a further 110%. We haven’t seen anything like it before. Jessie J’s ticket sales also increased by 53%.” 

The show seems to have done so much for Danny and Jessie’s music careers. Louise Mullock, spokesperson for Seatwave, said: "The publicity surrounding Jessie J and Danny's departures helped to boost ticket demand significantly, much more so than their weekly appearances on the show. 

"As both The Script and Jessie J have ramped up their musical commitments after leaving the show, it stands to reason that many fans are speculating that Tom Jones will do the same and are putting in searches for a tour announcement."

Janine comes clean about breakup with Jaypee

In an interview with 'The Buzz' Janine Tugonon, talked about her future in America and also addressed the rumors about Danny O'Donoghue.

.Last April, Tugonon made headlines when she broke up with Santos after she admitted on national television that she got attracted with The Script vocalist Danny O'Donoghue.

“I kept quiet during that time. There’s nothing I can say that can actually change what people think It’s already set in their mind. So I really wanted to wait for the right time to finally explain what happened.

“I think I was misunderstood. the public and Jaypee's family perceived that I dumped Jaypee without caring about how he felt and not for any particular reason. There’s a bigger story behind that breakup,” she said. “I want to keep it private as much as possible but with family and the press making a big issue about Danny O'Donoghue from The Script. I couldn't get the reason across I had been condemned and no one was going to listen or believe me. But the break up was more than just that it was a mutual decision.”

“I admit I was at fault because of what happened on The ‘Kris TV’ interview, it was my fault. But the breakup, was already starting to happen before the concert, before everything popped out, so the press used the story, but I did still add fuel to the fire with my comments” she added.

Tugonon, however, admitted that O'Donoghue was indeed one of the reasons why they called it quits.

“Of course, I admit I got attracted. I said that on ‘Kris TV.’ Who wouldn’t? I love the band, I love their music a lot. And yes I got attracted, who wouldn't? So maybe it was a small part of it but we just fell out of love and that was the main reason,” she said.

Tugonon also emphasized that O’Donoghue did not court her.

“The press turned it into a massive story and said that we were dating, just think about it, how can it happen, he’s in the other side of the world? I think we just talked. Of course, and yes I admit, I was attracted to him and kinda whisked along with the whole fairy tale idea. But no, there was NEVER EVER anything going on. I was lucky enough to meet him and the band, we chatted and had a photo together but that is all it ever was,” she said.

Danny O’Donoghue: Jessie J Nearly Quit The Voice Last Year

The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he wasn’t surprised by Jessie J’s decision to leave The Voice this year as the Wildsinger almost quit once before.

Jessie announced her exit from the BBC One show earlier this year, stating that she wanted to concentrate on promoting her new album and touring.

In an exclusive interview with Laura Whitmore for MTV News UK after his performance at V Festival on Saturday (August 17), the Irish star opened up about both their decisions to leave.

“I was shocked when I found out her decision to leave last year but then she came back to it in the second year,” said Danny. “I think that she kind of had her mind made up already.” 

Speaking of his own reasons to leave his big red chair behind, O’Donoghue explained: “The Script is where my heart is and it always has been and we’re at a really, really, important stage of our career right now.” 

“The hard part of it is that TV’s done great for us as a band.”

Timing was also a major factor in Danny’s decision to leave the TV series, with the star revealing: “We’ve played 52 arenas already and I would have had six weeks off doing an album and then gone straight back on the voice again, you can’t write an album in six weeks, you just can’t.”

 

There has also been recent speculation that fellow judge, Sir Tom Jones, would be set to announce his leaving too but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
The Voice aside, both Danny and bandmate Glen Power tipped Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines to take home the coveted Video of the Year Moonman at this year’s MTV VMAs, with Glen quick to add: “Boobs win all the time.”
