Sean McSwain - An inspiration – A dream come true

Sean is a true inspiration to us all

Lauren @thescriptloveuk (The Dream Angel)

Sean McSwain (@seanmcswain)  is a fellow Script fan, he had a dream, enter lauren (@thescriptloveuk) Two fans, one goal that turned into a project and the project into a dream come true….

Sean:  “When the Aviva DVD was released in December 2011, I decided to make a video called "How A Script Fan Watches the Aviva DVD." Immediately after uploading it, it became somewhat of a hit within the fanbase. Other fans asked me to start vlogging regularly about the guys, so I decided to. After making a couple videos, I went to their concert on October 23rd, 2012. After the concert, I met the guys and decided to ask them a question each and I taped it. I put the video on you tube as part of my vlogs, and it once again became a really big hit. So I wanted to take it one step further. I had always had the idea in the back of my mind to try to get a sit-down interview with The Script, but I always kind of brushed it away, thinking it wasn't possible”.

This didn't stop Sean from his dream, he continued along his path

“ However, after they announced that they would be supporting Train on a U.S. tour, with a stop in the city I live in, I decided to really try and get the interview to happen. I, along with Lauren @ScriptLoveUK another Script fan, talked and planned how to get the idea in motion.”

Lauren:  “On February 4th this year Sean contacted me through Facebook about this crazy idea he had of doing an interview with The Script on behalf of the fans. I'd never heard of anyone doing anything like this before and immediately I was excited and wanted to help Sean in anyway I could.
Once Sean knew what I thought about the interview we started thinking of ways to inform the band and/or the management about it. I suggested that a youtube video describing exactly what he wanted to do and why would be a good starting point. It would result in 1 link that could be easily tweeted etc to the band and other fans. Sean totally agreed and within 4 hours of the video going up online and being posted on twitter Sean got a DM from Mark saying that he wanted to do the interview.”

Sean: “ After about two months of planning it, I put a video on youtube to let other fans know about my idea and to try to get the guys onboard. Four hours after uploaded the video, Mark committed to doing the interview. Soon after, Glen committed to doing it. I was put into contact with management, and set up several outlets through which fans could submit questions/ideas/ and thank you's. I think that the fans did an amazing job of helping me along with this, and I got a lot of participation.”

Lauren: “As soon as we had Mark on board we knew we could make it happen. After a couple more youtube videos explaining the project in more detail and emails I sent back and forth to the management etc it didn't take long before we had Glen on board too.
Because this was always an interview for the fans conducted by a fan I had faith it would work and we could make it happen. If Sean had wanted to do this with any other band/artist I would have had my doubts but I knew that if anyone was going to do it it was The Script and they proved me so right.
I think what this interview proved is that when we come together and work as a team we can do anything. Not just Sean, not just me but all the fans getting behind this amazing project helped it happen.”

Sean: “ The interview was so stressful and scary, but I think it turned out very well. Although Dan didn't do the interview, Mark and Glen were there and so easy to talk to and made the process so easy. We are so lucky to be fans of these great guys.”
Sean is currently uploading his video of the interview to youtube, I will link to this as soon as it is complete. He is also at the bottom of a very large pile of tweets, he has promised to get to everyone and he is finding his way through them’
This proves…
1 Fan + 1 dream (+) Another fan + love = DREAM COME TRUE

I've resorted to disguises, says Voice judge Danny

DANNY O'Donoghue has resorted to disguising himself in public to avoid crazed fans.

The Script frontman will return as a judge to The Voice UK alongside Will.i.am, Jessie J and Tom Jones -- a role that has seen his profile rocket across the UK.

Since then, the Dubliner has received hundreds of marriage proposals on Twitter and is even cyber-stalked by one obsessed female follower.

"There's one who direct messages us every three hours," he said. "Day and night. She is talking to us like she is a best friend -- 'I miss you' and so on."

O'Donoghue (32) also revealed how another fan managed to get through security as far as the band's dressing room by forging press accreditation documents.

Since becoming a judge on The Voice, he has become more recognisable and has said he wears disguises.

"I wear an Aztec hat with dog ears, and sometimes sunglasses and a big puffy jacket. In the street it buys you that extra two seconds before they go 'Is that ... ?' and then you are past."

Even Halloween costumes are no protection for the singer.

"I went to a party as Edward Scissorhands. Black make-up. Hair all over the place. I still had two girls chasing me down the road screaming, 'I'd know that walk anywhere'."

The Script drummer Glen Power said Danny's signature walk is a dead give-away. "His best disguise is if he stands still," he joked.

Scots teen hero Jenna Speirs gets a message from Danny O'Donoghue after landing award

THE former Great Scot, who hit the headlines after setting up holiday homes for sick children after her twin died from a brain tumour, had photos taken alongside JLS, Taylor Swift and Little Mix.

TEEN hero Jenna Speirs met a galaxy of pop stars at the Radio 1 awards last week – but she was the superstar.

And she was left speechless when her hero, The Voice star Danny O’Donoghue, sent her a personal message.

The 17-year-old, from Rothesay on Bute, was congratulated by the hunky Irish singer as she picked up her Radio 1 Teen Hero award. Jenna, who is a massive fan of The Script, was honoured last Sunday.

The teenager, who has helped build two holiday homes on Bute for terminally ill kids and their families, said: “I still cannot believe Danny knows who I am. I nearly keeled over when he sent me a video message and invited me to come see him in concert next time The Script are in Scotland.

“My friends and I all think he is gorgeous and they are all begging me to take them with me when I go to see him.”

Jenna, who is studying radiography at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University, was chosen as a winner from thousands of nominees and received her award from R&B singer Mischa B.

She said: “It was a really overwhelming experience. There were more than 20,000 people in Wembley and they were all cheering me.

The holiday homes were inspired by Jenna’s twin Calum, who died from a brain tumour in February 2007, aged just 12.

His dying wish was for his sister and parents Duncan, 50, and Caroline, 44, to build a house, where sick children could make memories.

Monsters, Beliebers and other fan-tribes

SMALL PRINT : IF YOU see a gaggle of “Little Monsters” in Dublin tomorrow night, all beetling towards the Aviva stadium, don’t panic – it’s just Lady Gaga’s fans on their way to her concert. These days, no self-respecting pop star can be seen dead without their signature fan-tribe. You might be accosted by “Beliebers”, eager to convert you to the cult of teen popster Justin Beiber. Or you may find yourself under attack from “Mayniacs”, because you dared suggest that rising star Conor Maynard may be a little bit on the twee side.

In the 1960s, the “Deadheads” followed The Grateful Dead on their never-ending tour – not stopping even when Jerry Garcia died. In the 1980s, shopping centres were overrun by “Cureheads” in flop-mops and raincoats. REM always had a devoted following, but their singer attracted a particularly avid sub-group of fans known as “Distiples”. And where would the mighty Aidan Walsh, aka The Master of the Universe, be without his “Happy Slaves”? Still ruling minor galaxies, I’ll bet.

Today’s pop stars are catching on to the tribal trend, but not all of them get it right – “Directioners”? D’uh! So, let’s start a hashtag (#poptribes) and help these stars name their flock. Here are 10 to get you started.

1. The Grimlins – fiends for goth idol Aiden Grimshaw

2. The Minajerie – they’re an animal for Nicki Minaj

3. Peasants of Leon – blindly following the Followills.

4. The Peas’ Corps – volunteering for service to Fergie and Will.I.Am

5. Flowers’ Children – a cult blossoms around the Killers’ frontman.

6. Scriptonites – they’ve got a weakness for pop superhero Danny O’Donoghue

7. The Jep Set – flying the flag for Carly Rae

8. Tempah’s Tantrums – they want their Tinie – now!

9. The Rita Maids – single girls pounding the pavements for Ms Ora

10. The Azealiots – Extremely devoted to Ms Banks.

Local teen meets her popstar idol - Danny O’Donoghue from The Script

A TEENAGE pop music fan from Boston got to meet two of her idols after winning a radio competition.

Charlotte Smith, 15, met members of Irish band The Script after taking part in an on-air music challenge with Lincs FM.

“It was amazing,” said Charlotte, of Windsor Terrace, who met Danny O’Donoghue, known also for his role on BBC’s The Voice TV show, and fellow band member Mark Sheehan.

“I went to the studio with my mum and we got to sit in on their radio interview and hang around with them, then afterwards we got to meet them, and have photos taken with them.”

She added: “My brother Mark is a massive fan of The Script so I made sure I got an autograph for him too.”

To win the competition, the ex-Haven High School pupil had to guess which were songs by The Script out of eight Irish tracks played by DJ Rob Hammond.

Travel staff flustered after meeting Danny from The Script

Travel staff in Titchfield Common were left in a fluster after a surprise meet and greet with pop star Danny O’Donoghue.

Workers at Amity World Travel met the lead singer with The Script and mentor from BBC’s The Voice outside their office today  (July 27) after he had been interviewed at Wave 105 radio station at the Segensworth industrial estate.

Kerry Holland, Nikki Jordan, Karrie Di Mambro, Sarah Jones and Sarah Vincent were all smiles as they ran downstairs from their office above the radio station to talk to the lead singer of the Irish band after he had been on air with Steve Power at Breakfast.

Business development manager Sarah Vincent, 33, said: “We ran down the stairs like a herd of elephants. He shook our hands, gave us all a kiss on the cheek and posed for photos with us.
“We all feel a bit flustered!
“I quite liked him on The Voice. He was really lovely and spent quite a lot of time with us and others who turned up to see him.”
Sarah Jones, who claims to be the biggest fan of the group and whose favourite song is Breakeven, was delighted to have the Script’s front man’s arm around her for a photograph.

The 39-year-old account manager laughed: “He was really sweet and I thought he got a bit scared when he was ambushed by so many women.

“I got on one side and Karrie got on the other for the photo. He was really charming.
“In the office there was lots of giggling and merriment for a while.”

Business travel manager Nikki Jordan, 34, who is also a huge fan, laughed: “It’s silly that I’m 34 and still getting flustered over a 31-year-old. I’ve always liked The Script.

“I thought he came across as really lovely on The Voice and as he was outside my office I’d take any opportunity to say hello

“He seemed really lovely and really down to earth which was good to see.”

The Script won the World Music Awards Best Selling Irish Act award in 2008 and won the Meteor Ireland Music Awards Best Live Performance title in 2010 and Best Irish Band in 2009.

Their third album will be called #3 and is set for a UK release on September 10.
