Travel staff in Titchfield Common were left in a fluster
after a surprise meet and greet with pop star Danny O’Donoghue.
Workers at Amity World Travel met the lead singer with
The Script and mentor from BBC’s The Voice outside their
office today (July 27) after he had been interviewed at Wave 105
radio station at the Segensworth industrial estate.
Kerry Holland, Nikki Jordan, Karrie Di Mambro, Sarah Jones
and Sarah Vincent were all smiles as they ran downstairs from their office
above the radio station to talk to the lead singer of the Irish band after he
had been on air with Steve Power at Breakfast.
Business development manager Sarah Vincent, 33, said: “We
ran down the stairs like a herd of elephants. He shook our hands, gave us all a
kiss on the cheek and posed for photos with us.
“We all feel a bit flustered!
“I quite liked him on The Voice. He was really lovely
and spent quite a lot of time with us and others who turned up to see him.”
Sarah Jones, who claims to be the biggest fan of the
group and whose favourite song is Breakeven, was delighted to have the Script’s
front man’s arm around her for a photograph.
The 39-year-old account manager laughed: “He was really
sweet and I thought he got a bit scared when he was ambushed by so many women.
“I got on one side and Karrie got on the other for the
photo. He was really charming.
“In the office there was lots of giggling and merriment for
a while.”
Business travel manager Nikki Jordan, 34, who is also a huge
fan, laughed: “It’s silly that I’m 34 and still getting flustered over a
31-year-old. I’ve always liked The Script.
“I thought he came across as really lovely on The Voice
and as he was outside my office I’d take any opportunity to say hello
“He seemed really
lovely and really down to earth which was good to see.”
The Script won the World Music Awards Best Selling Irish Act
award in 2008 and won the Meteor Ireland Music Awards Best Live Performance
title in 2010 and Best Irish Band in 2009.
Their third album will be called #3 and is set for a UK
release on September 10.
