The Voice 2013 coach Danny O’Donoghue has insisted that the competition is still wide open.
Despite Leah McFall being the odds-on favourite to win in tomorrow night’s final, Danny reckons any of the four finalists can still take it.
Saturday will see Leah face off against Danny’s Andrea Begley, Jessie J’s Matt Henry and Sir Tom Jones’ finalist Mike Ward.
“I’d be a fool to go against the odds — Leah has an amazing chance of winning. But there will hopefully be a few extra million people watching the final,” Danny said this week.
Speaking backstage during rehearsals, he said: “Those people will get to experience Andrea for the first time. And you can’t underestimate the power of a great song in the hands of a great singer.
“When she sang Angel at her audition, there wasn’t anyone in here who wasn’t crying. It’s not over until it’s over and I wouldn’t bet against Andrea.”
And Danny also defended Andrea over claims that she’s only in the final due to the ‘sympathy vote’.
He told The Sun newspaper: “At this stage, nobody could say she is in the final due to sympathy. People don’t pick up the phone to vote because you are blind. Andrea has fought for this the entire way.
“She has put in the hours because she knows hard work pays off and I’d love to see her win the show.”
