'The Voice UK' judge Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he was misquoted in a recent interview regarding a comment on the series.
The Script frontman sits on the hit TV talent show's panel alongside Jessie J, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones.
Last week's nail-biting semi-final saw O'Donoghue refusing to name the artist he would take through to the finals if he could.
British newspaper The Sun quoted the star as saying: “The bosses wanted me to say if I would send home Karl Michael or Andrea Begley if it was up to me to decide, but I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t let either of them down. There is a format to follow, but we all have morals. And every single one of the coaches does what we want.
The Sun then quoted O'Donnoghue as saying: “I probably should have answered the question, but I felt it was unfair. The number of hours both of them had put it at that point was incredible. For me it would have been like choosing a favourite child. And at the end of the day, we are trying to create an artist who will sell millions of records. So whoever won the public vote was the right person for me to have in the final, because they will sell the most records. It turned out that was Andrea.”
However, O'Donoghue has said the report is not correct, writing on his Twitter page today: "what a load of sh*t!!! (sic)."
"THE PRESS CAN BE A BIT LIKE CHINESE WHISPERS, FROM THE TIME ONE REPORTER HEARS SOMETHING THEN THINKS WHAT WOULD MAKE IT SOUND BETTER. THEY PASS IT ON AND SO ON AND BY THE TIME IT REACHES THE PAPER AND GETS OUT IT IS TWISTED ALL ROUND. I'M NOT SAYING THE PRESS IS ALWAYS LIKE THAT BUT A LOT OF IT ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SOUNDS DRAMATIC."
Tomorrow O'Donoghue's last act Andrea will go head-to-head with Leah McFall, Mike Ward and Matt Henry in the live finale of the hit TV talent show.
