As for signing up for a new series, The Script singer says "of course I'm going to be sitting back there rubbing it in everybody's face!"
The Script's Danny O'Donoghue says he is "still shocked" after Andrea Begley won the second series of The Voice UK on Saturday. The Tyrone contestant was a member of 'Team Danny'.
"I'm hungover to bits after the weekend," he laughed when asked about the extent of the 'Team Danny' celebrations.
Despite being signed to a different record company, O'Donoghue hopes to be involved in Begley's career from this point on.
"Because it's a Universal-run show and we're on Sony, I've been promised that I've got as much control as I can," O'Donoghue explains.
"As in, as much as I want. She already has 21st Century Management managing her and also has the record deal with Unviersal. So it won't just be completely my say, because obviously you have to run with their business model too. I'd love be involved in her career because I think she's fantastic."
As for his own future, the singer says no plans for the next series are in place as yet:
"No, not yet. It's been commissioned but they just let the dust settle a bit and then we'll all be approached I guess."
Would he like to return?
"Listen, I would. Of course I'm going to be sitting back there rubbing it in everybody's face. In fairness, it depends on schedule. The BBC were fantastic dealing with The Script's manic schedule this year."
His bandmate Mark Sheehan notes that The Script's schedule comes first and that it "got tough" this year: "We get worried for our mate. We're like 'ok, at the end of the day we have to step onstage playing to 70,000 people a night'."
Danny concludes: "Normally it's burning out from coke binges and all sorts. 'No, he's actually burnt out because he's working hard.' Danny O'Donoghue? Wha?! You're kidding me!"
