THE Script front-man Danny O'Donoghue admits the Irish stars "bled on the page" to bare their souls on their new album.
For The Voice UK judge recording recent release #3 represented musical therapy and catharsis.
But anyone expecting morose introspection need not worry.
Danny made sure the emotionally raw lyrics were backed up by "banging anthems" guaranteed to get fans dancing at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Wednesday.
Danny said: "We have bared all on the new album and really bled on the page.
"Emotionally we have reached another level and I am so proud to release a record where our hearts are on our sleeves.
"However we made sure we produced big banging anthems that you can sing and dance to.
"The mantra for this album was the head, heart and feet. We wanted to produce something you could think about, but dance to at the same time."
The Script play the Granite City as part of a sell out British tour.
And after months of hectic recording in a studio, and his television duties, Danny is relishing the chance to reconnect with the band's loyal fans.
"This tour is going to be amazing and I couldn't wait to get back out on the road," he said.
"Playing live is where it all makes sense for us.
"It is one thing doing it in the studio but actually being on the frontline, in front of the fans, is where it all really clicks.
"Playing these shows are also a way of saying thank you to our fans.
"We really wouldn't be where we are without them.
"These shows are going to be so much fun."
The Script's profile has risen since Danny's appearance as a judge on BBC 1's hit talent show, The Voice UK.
Besides their increased status, another spin-off was a collaboration with fellow judge - Black Eyed Peas star Will.i.am.
The song, Hall of Fame, stormed to the top of the British charts.
"In the final week of The Voice we were chilling out with Will," said Danny.
"We played him a track and he said he wanted it for his own album.
"It was supposed to be our first single so I suggested we sing it together.
"We jumped in his car and went to his hotel room where he had set up a recording studio.
"An hour and a half later Will had laid his vocal down on the track while I was just standing there and it was great.
"People who watch Will on The Voice do not get to see him in action at what he does best, producing, song-writing and being in the studio.
"It was an honour and a privilege to be there to see something that very few people have seen."
Formed in Dublin, The Script's debut single We Cry was released in 2008.
Their eponymous debut album topped the charts and led to high profile support slots with Paul McCartney and U2.
Fame had arrived. But it stepped up a notch when Danny began his Saturday prime time television slot with The Voice UK, alongside Tom Jones, Jessie J and Will.i.am.
He said: "There was a big change after doing that big television show. Sure, I got recognised before, but now it's just insane.
"However I don't mind the side of fame where people stop and ask for autographs.
"I know what it means to meet an artist you look up to. "I've been privileged enough to meet my entire record collection.
"There's been times at shows when I look out and the front row looks like my iTunes page."
