Will Young is reportedly in talks with the BBC, about joining the lineup on next year’s series of The Voice.
We feel like we’ve been there, done that, with this story, as the former Pop Idol winner was in the running for the panel for the debut series but in the end his spot was filled by The Script star Danny O’Donoghue and he wasn’t a happy bunny.
Speaking earlier this year the ‘Evergreen’ hitmaker admitted that he didn’t even know why he’d been passed over and commented:
“That was a shame. I got given it and then I didn’t again.”
He added:
“They took it away. I’m sure why but that’s the reality – it’s a cruel world. Life goes on – I’m still alive and still breathing.”
However, things could be about to turn around for Young, as it’s been claimed that producers have been in touch, after show bosses saw him perform at the Savoy Theatre.
The singer has been starring in ‘Cabaret’ and after their series dropped in the ratings, their live tour was cancelled due to poor ticket sales and winner Leanne Mitchell failed to set the charts on fire, it’s believed executives think Will could be just what they need for 2013.
According to Metro Green Room, Young is ‘about to be hired’ as a coach for the show, but with recent reports suggesting that Jessie J, Danny O’Donoghue, Will.i.am and Tome Jones are all returning when auditions kick off early next year, we have no idea who he could be replacing.
If it’s true and whoever’s seat he takes, we want to see Will in this costume on the live shows. That should bring in two million viewers at least!
Would he be a good addition to the panel? He does have reality TV experience after all?….. The majority think Will.i.am and Danny should stay, and Will Young could replace Tom or Jessie J.
