Danny’s band The Script shelled out £7,000 on a chopper to take him there from London’s Pinewood Studios
There will be raised Voices between Danny O’Donoghue and his BBC bosses this week in a clash over a helicopter ride.
Danny’s band The Script shelled out £7,000 on a chopper to take him down to the Isle of Wight Festival from London’s Pinewood Studios after filming the live show on Saturday.
Instead of hitching a ride themselves, they nobly agreed that their lead singer could take his Voice finalist Andrea Begley, 26, instead.
And along with her came a two-man BBC crew to film the whole thing.
But even though the footage is due to run on Saturday night in a recap of Andrea’s week with her mentor, the Beeb made only a token £500 contribution to the cost.
Now the Script guys are miffed that they have been left footing the bulk of the bill after they spared Andrea, who is almost blind, a three-hour train and ferry trip.
An insider tells me: “The Script’s management spent a lot of money on the chopper to ensure that Danny made his late afternoon gig at the festival after filming The Voice on the Saturday night.
"So when they took Andrea and her minder in place of the other band members, who used the ferry, they were hoping for more than £500, which isn’t even 10% of the amount.”
You’d think a show with a budget of £11million a year would have few more pounds to spare.
But a source from The Voice said: “Producers would have covered the costs via public transport but it was agreed they could travel with Danny via helicopter for the equivalent cost.
"It was an amazing experience for Andrea and a generous thing for Danny and the boys to offer her.”
