Danny O' Donoghue isn't wasting any time
Danny O’Donoghue has advised Andrea Begley to begin work on her debut album straight away, she has revealed.
The 26 year old singer won The Voice last Saturday night, triumphing over fellow finalists Leah McFall, Matt Henry and Mike Ward and her mentor is keen for her to achieve more than last year’s winner.
Speaking to The Belfast Telegraph Andrea admitted that Danny wants more from her now she’s inked a deal with Universal Records and she explained that he wants her to get her new music out ‘as quickly as possible.’She said:
Andrea has a deal with Universal Records and Danny has high expectations for her. She gave consistently brilliant performances in the competition, with highlights being her renditions of 'Ho Hey' and 'Songbird.'
She is still in shock about winning the show as she thought, like most others that Leah would do it.
Will.i.am is another person that thought she had it in the bag, but there are no hard feelings between the pair. Andrea said that Leah is a lovely person and will have a hugely successful career with Will.i.am's backing.
Danny is keen to help Andrea with her album, and doesn't want a rushed job but does want it out fairly soon.
“Danny has said he wants to help me with the album. He’s advised me to get it out as quickly as possible, not a rushed job, but just to get it out there soon.
“I’ll be having lots of meetings this week with Universal and management. It’s all so exciting because I’ve never worked with anyone of this calibre before.”
Begley’s life is about to change in a big way and she’s moving away from home for the first time due to her win. The former civil servant will now move from Northern Ireland to London to pursue a music career and she can’t quite believe it’s all happening so quickly.
Andrea (and her mum) didn’t expect to come so far on the BBC show.
“I’m still in a complete state of shock,” she said. “It really hasn’t hit home yet. It’s just crazy. But I’m absolutely thrilled and am so grateful to everyoneat home for the huge support I’ve received.
“In terms of the bookmakers, Leah was the favourite to win, and if I’m being honest, I thought she’d done it as well. From my own point of view, I just went out there and did exactly what I’d been doing all along, singing the songs I felt a connection with. Leah is going to be a huge star. Will is 150% behind her and wants to work with her. She is an amazing talent and a lovely person and will be very successful.”
