Voice coach Danny O'Donoghue struggles to hold back tears as the upset of axeing one of his own acts becomes too much.
He is overcome with emotion as he come to terms with the heartbreak of losing an acts the battle rounds draw to a close, knowing there is little chance of a lifeline.
Script frontman O'Donoghue crumbles when he faces choosing between Nadeem Leigh and Karl Michael to decide who survives in the contest.
After hearing them go head-to-head performing the Daniel Merriweather's top ten hit Red, Danny is visibly upset and has tears in his eyes as he explains: "All I asked for was emotion. And you gave that and so much more. And I'm an idiot for putting you together."
And as he prepares to send one of them home he says: "What's tough is that they both genuinely deserve the next stage."
To make matters worse, he knows the other coaches have used up their "steal" options to give some of the competitors a second chance.
