SINGAPORE - Irish trio The Script mean business when it comes to music - "If music was a religion, we'd be the most devout followers there are."
So much so that even when the band - made up of frontman Danny O'Donoghue, drummer Glen Power and guitarist Mark Sheehan - are not on tour, music is the only thing on their minds.
When LOUD spoke to the band hours before their show here on March 29, O'Donoghue, 32, said that they can be found in the studio writing when they are not busy jetting off for shows.
"We used to have a lot of time to do that - write in the studio and wishing we were on tour," he said. "Now we're touring so much, it's rare that we're in one place just to write."
Their solution?
Tour the world and continue writing at the same time.
"We never stop writing and we do that when we have some down time."
If all goes well, fans can expect a new album from the band sooner than they think, although there are no definite plans yet.
But for now, the band are still enjoying the high from their successful third record, aptly named #3.
The 2012 album peaked at No. 2 on the Official Charts Company album chart.
Six months after #3 was released, the band are still in disbelief at its success.
"It's hard to come to terms with it, I can't even explain it," said O'Donoghue.
"To have one album go big the way it did was amazing and now we have three. It felt just like yesterday when we were sitting with our fingers crossed, not knowing how our album would do. And now we are in Singapore. We're blessed, it's been an absolute dream."
Their debut album The Script and their second, Science & Faith, have enjoyed top position on the same chart.
The Script seem to know the formula for commercial success very well. Right from the start, their earlier singles, like Breakeven, were well-received and remain one the fans' favourites today.
Do they long to break away from Breakeven?
"We never get sick of it," said O'Donoghue. "It doesn't matter who you play it to, every night we sing it, it's different and it means something more.
"I think a band's downfall is to stop playing the songs they are well-known for."
Like Breakeven, the members admit that most of their songs tap on a personal vein.
When it comes to pouring their hearts out, The Script have no regrets at all.
"It's like therapy. The deeper you get into what you went through, the better the music is. We don't regret it at all, no," the frontman said.
The band certainly had their hearts on their sleeves when they played here, their emotions all the more apparent as they sang hits such as We Cry, Breakeven, The Man Who Can't Be Moved, If You Ever Come Back and Hall of Fame.
The Script will play a show in Brisbane, Australia, later tonight before they play the Isle of Wight Festival in the UK in June.
O'Donoghue is also busy with reality television competition The Voice UK 2, where he returns as a coach with Will.i.am, Jessie J and Tom Jones.
"Expect better contestants than in the previous season," he said. "The coaches are also better as we are more relaxed. It's almost like being in a band with them - we're competitive and we have four separate opinions but I think that is important."
