The Voice UK 2013 coach Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he’s after an ‘all round artist’ this year.
Danny returns to the voice later this month alongside Sir Tom Jones Jessie J and Will.i.am.
Danny admitted that this series it would not just be about the voice, and instead of The Script singer explained he was after an all round artist in his group.
He said: “We’re trying to change the culture from being the ‘singer show’ to an ‘artist show’, so while it’s great if you’re a singer and can sing every name in the phone book and it sounds great – you can also be an all-round artist. This year we’re going to be concentrating on that.”
And Danny reckons that this series will showcase even more talent than the first
He teased: “I can’t give you any names but the level of quality is even better this year and it’s more varied as well. We’ve got buskers, soul singers, piano players. A lot more musicians actually came on this year.
In an effort to boost viewing figures after the blind auditions this year we’ll see a new knockout stage. Danny revealed that the new twist has been causing tension between the coaches already, as they are also given the power to steal one another’s artists.
He said: “I get twelve contestants, then they get chopped down to six. But then the other judges are allowed to steal any of those acts away from me if they‘re like ‘What are you kicking them out for?’.”
