Danny O’Donoghue, of The Script, in a scene from the new video
A VIDEO production company based in York has created the latest music video for Irish chart-toppers The Script.
Digifish, which is based in Seaton Ross, was commissioned by Sony Music to create the video for the band’s upcoming single,' If You Can See Me Now'.
The video was directed Digifish creative director Paul Banks. Paul has now been recommissioned to work with the band again, after first meeting them in an interview for a promotion company.
He said: “One of the people we went to interview was The Script, and we just hit it off.
“We had a ten-minute interview, and we’re still working with them, three years and two DVDs later.”
Since 2010, Digifish has created online content for The Script, and in 2011 produced a feature-length documentary about the band’s journey to a homecoming gig in Dublin, called The Road To Aviva, which reached the top spot in the Christmas 2011 music DVD charts.
If You Can See Me Now is the third single to be released from the band’s 2012 album, #3, following Hall Of Fame, their number one single with Will.i.am, and Six Degrees Of Separation.
Paul not only directed the video, but also filmed the band on the road in locations including the USA, Australia, Africa and Asia over a three-year period.
He also worked on the edit for the video. Paul, guitarist with York group Shed Seven, said: “It’s quite a personal song about parents who have passed away.
“Danny lost his father a few years ago, and Mark lost both his parents, so the song is basically saying exactly that – what would their parents think about them now, would they be proud?
“They wanted a video that would play like memories, so we utilised all footage I shot around the world, and did a shoot down in London two weeks ago, so it has a narrative structure. I think they wanted a personal relationship behind the camera. For them it was their most important video to get right, as it’s their most important song to them.”
