After enlisting will.i.am for their hit “Hall Of Fame,” The Script‘s members themselves take a stab at spitting some rhymes on new single “If You Could See Me Now.” The song itself is a heartstring-tugger about the Irish lads’ wishing their fallen family members could see all the success they've collectively achieved as a band in recent years. After all, once your song gets butchered dozens of times during American Idol auditions (we’re looking at you, “Breakeven”), you've truly made it!
As for the video, it’s a lot of frontman Danny O’Donoghue looking angsty in a sleeveless tee, sitting on a bed, while concert footage is also peppered throughout the clip. We also see a lot more of guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power than in previous videos. It shows them enjoying their success but it flips between shots of concerts to public things they have achieved to all of them looking pained and saddened at their loss. The Script are starting to look and sound more “boy band” than “pop-rock,” as time moves on, but they have still retained their heartfelt lyrics. If they believe in it they will sing about it. Which still sets them apart from most other bands, The Script are not a manufactured boy band but with their now growing popularity courtesy of ‘The Voice’, they seem to have adapted towards the boy band genre.
One thing is for sure all those ladies out there will be pleased to see the Irish flesh and hear the heart-breaking lyrics and then they will be reaching for the Kleenex
