Amsterdam:
The last show of The Script took place in the tiny venue Paradiso, but in a
venue that’s ten times as big, The Script knows exactly how to give a great
show. Yesterday’s concert made this perfectly clear.
Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue expresses his surprise about how much the band has
grown in Holland several times during the show. He seems genuinely happy and
referring to the show he has no reason to complain at all, maybe just a little
because of the sound that sometimes lacked a bit.
Straight into the first song (Good Ol’ Days) it was totally clear that The
Script could do nothing wrong. The sold out Ziggo Dome screamed all the lyrics
flawless along with the band and songs like Breakeven and We Cry were welcomed
with an impressive applause. When The Script cry, the Ziggo Dome cries with
them.
Little point of critic
Since the release of the last mentioned, the band has been responsible for a
great amount of hits and the majority could be heard last night. Only one
little point of critic would be that the show, that contained 15 songs on the
setlist, seems to be a little short.
On the other hand, this is also a reason why the show never knew a tame moment.
Even after The Man Who Can’t be Moved, which had been performed early into the
show, and which has been their biggest hit probably, the show kept it’s
strength from beginning to end.
Gunpowder
Contrary to the last show in Amsterdam the focus has been more on the Script’s
hiphop side, which causes everything to flow just that bit faster. But above
all The Script is still a band that makes girls scream as loud as they can and
everybody knows the lyrics to every song perfectly well.
The fact that singer O’Donoghue seems to be able to burst into tears any moment
after all this time, makes sure everybody screams just that bit louder. It’s a
pity thought that The Script sticks to the pre-directed show from beginning to
end and doesn’t let go of this at all.
Convincing
The Script were convincing the entire show, they didn’t need the flattering
words about the Dutch audience and the size of the venue for that. The applause
they got after the show had finished
after the last song Hall of Fame was overwhelming.
Who likes to see more of The Script should go to Landgraaf in a couple of
months. The last time the band performed there was on a small stage, but based
on the yesterday’s concert in the Ziggo Dome the band seems ready to be the
main act in Landgraaf.
