DANNY O’DONOGHUE GIVES FURTHER INSIGHT INTO THE CHANGES IN THE VOICE

Danny O'Donoghue: Voice coaches battling for same acts

'The Voice' coaches have been battling for many of the same acts, Danny O'Donoghue has revealed.
The Script frontman insists there is even more of a competitive edge to the singing competition this year and he and his fellow coaches Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J and will.i.am have been spinning around for the same singers.
Speaking at the BRIT Awards nominations launch at The Savoy Hotel in London last night (10.01.13), he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I've been up against all the other judges for a lot of the acts we have heard. There have been about six people that we've all turned around for. When it happens we all throw our toys out of the pram and go mental. The blind rounds, which everyone loves, now span out for longer and there are more twists to the show."
Danny - whose band The Script have been nominated for the International Group BRIT - is really pleased with the changes made to the format of the BBC One show this series and is looking forward to seeing how they play out on screen.
'The Voice' now has an extra knockout stage and a segment where coaches can steal singers from their rivals during the battle round - a concept used in the US version - and the 'Hall of Fame' singer thinks the changes will make the programme more interesting.
He said: "We've just shot the blind rounds, so I get 12 contestants instead of 10, and as soon as that goes down to six if any of the any other judges like an artist I have dropped they can now steal one of my artists. And there is a knockout round, where it's tit for tat the whole way through. Also the artist gets to sing a song that they want to sing, so there are all these different type of changes. It makes things more interesting and will keep the viewers interested."
The second series of 'The Voice' will hit screens later this year.
