BRIT AWARDS 2013

Hi DannyODonoghue.Net,

Happy New Year, Another year so time for The Brit Awards. The 2013 BRIT Awards will be held on 20 February at London's O2 Arena and will be presented by comedian James Corden. The nominations for this year's event BRITs will be revealed on Capital tonight from 6pm!

Damien Hirst has unveiled his design for this year's gongs for the BRIT Awards 2013 and says he was "honoured" to contribute to this year's awards show.

The iconic British artist is the third to design the official awards for the annual ceremony, and revealed his multi-coloured spotted design for the gongs earlier today (10th January).

The Script have confessed that it would be "incredible" if they were to pick up a nomination for a prize at the BRIT Awards 2013.

The nominations for this year's event will be announced during a ceremony in London later today (10th January), and the group's frontman Danny O'Donoghue told Capital that a nod would be a great achievement but is not something they go out looking for.

"Of course any type of tip of the hat you know is incredible. But I think as most musicians know, it's not about that for us," he said. "It's just about the music."

He continued: "We're not one of the most awarded bands or critically acclaimed bands, but it doesn't stop us from making really heartfelt music that we want to make. If we're recognised for that – fantastic. If not, it doesn't matter."

The band picked up their first nomination back in 2011 when they were shortlisted for Best International Group, losing out to Canadian stars Arcade Fire.

Tom Odell is the only artist already confirmed to pick up an award after winning the Critics' Choice prize and will receive his prize from last year's recipient Emeli Sande later today.
