Voice Result Facing The Axe; Ratings Slump Brings Big Changes In Next Series

BBC bosses are sharpening their axes and planning to dump The Voice results show due to poor ratings.

Execs on the singing contest will drop the Sunday night episode as part of a major revamp for the second series.

And that's not all: the number of live shows will be slashed from six to three; and each mentor's team will increase from ten to up to 20 with more blind auditions.

Letting slip all the changes in my exclusive chat Danny O'Donoghue told me: "There will be a lot of changes.

"For starters, there will be more blind auditions.

"And we are increasing the numbers on each team from 10 to 15 or 20.

"Live shows will be cut from six to just three and the results will be on the same night as far as I know.

"One of the problems last year was me and Jessie J tweeting the results before they had aired, so I think it will all be on one night now."

The Voice became an instant hit when it launched last spring, gaining a massive 11million viewers.

But that audience was halved when viewers turned off in their millions after the blind rounds.

Jessie J, Tom Jones and will.i.am will all return to swivel around on their chairs alongside Danny.

But The Script singer told fans to expect a bigger and better show this time.

He said: "The four coaches and the BBC know what to do to make sure this series is even better than the first one.

"We all agreed we need to get the songs and the artists out sooner. "We were all throwing ideas down on the table and talked about writing a song for the winner to release as soon as the show finishes.

"The songs will be available to download on the same night to create a buzz and create a back catalogue and create an appetite for the artists."
