Script Jet In And Wow Fans On Home Turf

THEY'RE a chart-topping band enjoying two world tours this year, but nothing compares to home for The Script.

The hit musicians jetted back to Dublin over the weekend to headline the Cheerios Childline Concert 2012.

Their first time on Irish shores in over three months, band member Mark Sheehan told the Irish Independent that the charity gig offered the trio the perfect opportunity to see their families, while also helping out a good cause.

The Script are ambassadors for Childline and arranged their tour dates around the concert.

"It's a great campaign and something we genuinely love to be part of," Sheehan said.

"Things have been extremely busy for us lately, so it's nice to get back and catch up with everyone."

The Script have just completed a tour that took them as far as Australia, Asia and America.

"What we do can be quite tiring, but we're seeing the world and getting to play, which is what we always wanted," Sheehan added.

All musicians and singers involved with the event, which is in its 15th year running and was hosted by Keith Duffy and Glenda Gilson, provided their services free of charge.

A spokeswoman said: "We make €400,000 from this event, which is crucial to Childline. They get no money from the State and rely on fundraising and volunteer efforts."

Other acts to take to the stage included Mary Byrne, Little Mix, Stooshie, Jedward and JLS.

Byrne told the Irish Independent of her excitement to perform her upcoming single 'Merry Christmas Everyone'.

The 'X Factor' graduate teamed up with Dublin boyband Level 5 for the track, proceeds of which are to be donated to the charity. "It's a fantastic cause and it's great to play with the lads," she said.
