The Script impress Cork audience at intimate performance

The Script announced a surprise pair of concerts earlier this week in preparation for the release of their upcoming album #3 . Jack Squibb of The Daily Shift was present at Opera House Theatre, Cork for the special occasion.

The Script began preparations for the release of their third album “#3″ last night in Cork’s Opera House. Fans in Dublin and Cork were treated to a surprise show announced only on Monday that the trio would perform shows both in Cork’s, Opera House Theatre and Dublin’s, The Academy.

Support on the night came from Dublin group The Original Rudeboys who brought their combination of hip hop and soft rock to an excited audience. Their summer vibes echoed around the Opera House as they warmed up the crowd for the main event with songs such as ‘Stars In My Eyes’, ‘Travelling Man’ and ‘Sunny Days’.

By the time their short set was over the fans were ready and eager to see the main act and they didn’t have long to wait. To the delight of a full Opera House, The Script came onto the stage to kickoff a night full of old favourites and new songs from the forthcoming album.

The intimate crowd proved too irresistible for frontman Danny O’Donoghue as he wandered amongst the fans throughout the set. New hit single ‘Hall Of Fame’ came early during the show, giving the crowd their first taste of what’s to come from the new album. With old songs like ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’, ‘Breakeven’ and ‘Talk You Down’ receiving some of the biggest cheers of the night, fans were pleased to know that the new songs mix well with the old.

The night came to a close with a spine tingling rendition of ‘For The First Time’ which was prolonged by their adored fans as they chanted “oh these times are hard, yeah they’re making us crazy don’t give up on me baby” long after the band had left the stage.

It was The Script’s first time performing in the rebel county and after receiving such an ecstatic response, a speedy return could be more than expected.
