DANNY O’Donoghue, the front man of ‘The Script’, could be set for a move down under after producers of the Australian version of ‘The Voice’ said they wanted him for the talent show.
The producers of the Australian show have been scrambling to find a replacement judge after singer Keith Urban was head hunted by American Idol.
Danny will travel to Australia this weekend for promotional work with the band, however it is believed he will meet producers to discuss joining the show.
A source told The Mirror: “ They've been put in a really tight spot after American Idol pounced on Keith and they need to quickly find someone new.
“They decided to watch some of the international versions of the show and they were really impressed with Danny’s performance on the UK show”, they continued.
The source added they hope the Dublin native would bring ‘sex appeal’ to the show: “They love the fact that he’s young and extremely good looking - it’s the sex appeal that they want and need for the show to continue to be a success.”
However producers main concern is the failure of the UK version to sustain ratings both in the UK and when it was screened in Australia.
Should Danny land the gig he would become the third Irish man to judge a major talent show down under – Ronan Keating is a judge on the X Factor while Brian McFadden is a judge on Australia’s Got Talent.
It isn't believed Danny would be forced to leave the UK version should he join the Australian show, as the Australian version films much earlier in the year.
