YOU would have struggled to find a bookmaker at the
beginning of The Voice who would have taken a bet on the mentors collaborating
off the back of the show.
Joining forces ... Will.i.am and The Script in shot from LA
earlier this week
|
But sure enough, the first effort from two of the BBC talent
show’s stars is about to hit your eardrums.
Danny O’Donoghue and his bandmates from The Script have
secured the services of Will.i.am for the first single from their next album.
I spoke to a seriously jetlagged Danny yesterday, and he
told me how the song, Hall Of Fame, came about.
He said: “I played Will a few demos backstage early on in
The Voice. We got to Hall Of Fame and he immediately asked if he could have it
for his new album, as it was exactly what he was looking for.
“I wasn’t having it, it was our lead single but I asked if
he’d be on it. He agreed and we booked in time to record it.
“The problem is, he’s either late or completely flakes, so
it took four attempts to get him to record his part.
“Eventually we put it together in his hotel room in 15
minutes.
“It’s a classic duet, I do one line and he responds. We’re
really excited about it and hoping we’ll get out and do it live too.”
That’s if he turns up.
The song will be on all radio stations from Monday and it’s
out in September.
