DANNY'S GOTTA FEELING THEY'LL CRACK AMERICA
The Script duet with rap star for album No 3 EXCLUSIVE
CHART-TOPPING rockband The Script hope their new duet with
Will.i.am will help them break America.
Hall Of Fame will be released on August 31 and is one of the
tracks from the band's third album, craftily called #3.
In an exclusive interview with FM104's Strawberry Alarm
Clock to be broadcast this morning, Mark Sheehan said he grabbed Will.i.am's
vocals for the track in a hotel room.
He said: "Will.i.am wanted to record the song for his
own album but Danny [O'Donoghue]
said no because we wrote it together. So I was backstage at The Voice and he
asked me. I said, 'Cool - as long as we're on the song with you.' He wasn't
really into that at the time."
But after the boys got to know Will.i.am a bit better he was
finally persuaded to record the track.
Mark said: "One night Danny got him in a headlock and put him in a can and we
recorded a song in 30 minutes. I ran out of that place with a hard drive in my
bag with his vocals on it like I had just robbed a bank."
And Mark, 35, said Will.i.am didn't change any of the
lyrics.
He added: "He was happy enough with it - he actually
added a really cool part."
The Script will spend October in LA and are hoping
Will.i.am's input will help raise their profile. Mark said: "He has been
so big over there for years so hopefully it will help us a bit and in places
like France and Germany where we're not that big either."
In the interview with FM104's Mark Noble, Mark revealed Danny had poured all his distress
over his love split with Irma Mali into the album which is out in September.
He said: "What not a lot of people knew - and everyone
was speculating on Danny on
The Voice and why he was all over the place at the time - was he was going
through a massive break-up and he didn't want to say anything about it."
Mark also revealed they plan to play a secret gig in Dublin
for the album release.
He said: "As usual for Ireland we are very nervous. But
we are going to do three smaller shows in London, Manchester and Dublin for
fans to get a taste."
