The Script talk playing the main stage and making their dreams come true…

The Script boys have come so far – from starting out at T in the Park on a new bands stage, to playing out to thousands of screaming fans before Rihanna’s set – so it’s fair to say that they were a little reflective when we stopped them for a chat.

Sitting in the main stage area, the Irish band, made up of Danny O’Donoghhue, Mark Sheeran and Glen Power, looked as thrilled as we were to be at the heart of the festival – and we can confirm that they were pretty excited about getting up on stage, with Danny explaining that it still felt unreal that they had made it this far.

“It’s a massive deal, particularly in our careers. When we came to Scotland and played here for the first time, we were in a new band tent and we said to ourselves, ‘will we ever play the main stage?’

“We feel like royalty sitting here in the main stage arena! We always wondered if we would get the chance to grace the boards of it. And now we’re going to, it’s so great. It’s just so great to play to such a big crowd.

“You can’t beat that feeling of so many people coming at you – it’s a great feeling.”

Indeed it is Danny.

On stage antics...

Taking to the stage just before Rihanna, true to his word, Danny appeared to be so amazed at the crowd that he only played on song actually standing on the stage.

Yes – rather than staying up there, he quickly jumped down and made it was across the front of the stage, kissing and hugging all of the fans.

Or maybe that was a reaction to the beer he necked on stage just before he leapt down.
Speaking to the fans during the gig – he thanked the crowds for turning out, calling them “the f***ing noisiest so far.”

“Thank you so much. We’ve been to T in the Park four years in a row – that was definitely better than last year. What is it about the Scots that we f***ing love!”
