No WIKI - No Life

Continuing our series of classic moments, this is a clip when we were all told that poor Glen doesn't have a Wikipedia page, Danny decides he can help.

This isn't a very old video but well worth going into the classic moments.

STOP THE PRESS! The Script are turning on the Blackpool Illuminations...

The evening is heralded as the biggest night of the year in Blackpool – yes everyone, it’s almost time for the Blackpool illuminations switch on! SCREAM.

As a bit of background, the special lights were founded in 1879 and run for whole days 66 days! Yes, 66. That’s a lot of electricity.

Anywho – before we all get too excited about the lights themselves – to make it even more thrilling, this year, they’ve made the switch-on run from just one day to a whole weekend!

It’s like a Blackpool festival…and the Script are headlining – could it get any better?

Speaking about the event earlier, Danny O’Donoghue got particularly excited, screaming:

“Mammy we’re turning on the lights in Blackpool.” Unfortunately, he wasn’t actually ringing his mum – but was telling MTV’s Laura Whitmore just how happy he was about the whole situation.

“It really is exciting – definitely something different for us,” he quipped, with fellow band member, Glen, adding:

“It’s an outdoor one and we’re going to be literally facing thousands of people, so I think it’s gonna be awesome.”

We better go and get our train tickets now. We’ll have a ride on the big dipper while were there.

IT COULD HAVE BEEN ME!

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones came close to joining BBC ‘talent’ show The Voice, but decided to withdraw as talks progressed.

Speaking to MTV, Stereophonics front man Kelly Jones revealed he entered early discussions with the show’s bosses with a view to signing up as a judge, but ‘bottled it’ when things started to get more serious. The place on the swiveling chair eventually went to Danny O’Donoghue of The Script.

“I had a couple of chats with some people and once they asked me back for the third chat I realised they were serious and I bottled it,” Jones explains.

“It took between January and June of your year away and we’re happy just as being a band, I mean we watch it on a Saturday nights.

Danny took the job and he was a damn good judge all the right stuff, funny, straight to the point at times, making all the ladies swoon and lastly being a bloody annoying git at times. That is what makes a good judge and I don’t think I’d be that comfortable judging other people.

Look at The Script now though! It could have gone either way for them, now everyone knows who they are and Danny managed to get their music heard by a much wider audience, full credit to him. I have to say though he has made a good decision to leave now and concentrate on The Script, people know who they are and now they will show the world what they are made of.

Danny O’Donoghue: Jessie J Nearly Quit The Voice Last Year

EXCLUSIVE! The Script star also talks his own exit from the show...

The Script’s Danny O’Donoghue has revealed he wasn’t surprised by Jessie J’s decision to leave The Voice this year as the Wildsinger almost quit once before.

Jessie announced her exit from the BBC One show earlier this year, stating that she wanted to concentrate on promoting her new album and touring.

In an exclusive interview with Laura Whitmore for MTV News UK after his performance at V Festival on Saturday (August 17), the Irish star opened up about both their decisions to leave.

“I was shocked when I found out her decision to leave last year but then she came back to it in the second year,” said Danny. “I think that she kind of had her mind made up already.”

Speaking of his own reasons to leave his big red chair behind, O’Donoghue explained: “The Script is where my heart is and it always has been and we’re at a really, really, important stage of our career right now.”

“The hard part of it is that TV’s done great for us as a band.”

Timing was also a major factor in Danny’s decision to leave the TV series, with the star revealing: “We’ve played 52 arenas already and I would have had six weeks off doing an album and then gone straight back on the voice again, you can’t write an album in six weeks, you just can’t.”

There has also been recent speculation that fellow judge, Sir Tom Jones, would be set to announce his leaving too but nothing is confirmed as of yet.
The Voice aside, both Danny and bandmate Glen Power tipped Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines to take home the coveted Video of the Year Moonman at this year’s MTV VMAs, with Glen quick to add: “Boobs win all the time.”

Irish take over V Festival

There are several perks of being a celebrity, and some of Ireland's best known musicians are enjoying VIP access at this year's Virgin Media V Festival in Chelmsford.

The Script frontman Danny O'Donoghue was beaming as he performed for the crowd with a catalogue consisting of their greatest hits and newer material.

The band are enjoying a break from touring the US, where their star continues to rise.

MTV presenter Laura Whitmore enjoyed backstage access with pal Niall Horan of One Direction, who enjoyed his second day at the festival today.

Niall Horan, Una Healy and Laura Whitmore

And both were happy to support the Irish by enjoying a birds-eye view of Una Healy and The Saturdays as they took to the stage earlier today.

Una enjoyed the VIP bar at the Mahiki Coconut Backstage Bar prior to her performance, in full makeup and hair, alongside her rugby player husband Ben Foden.

Throughout the three-day festival, Olly Murs, Labrinth, Paloma Faith, Conor Maynard and The Saturdays, all took to the stage.
