Sean is a true inspiration to us all
Sean McSwain (@seanmcswain)
is a fellow Script fan, he had a dream, enter lauren (@thescriptloveuk) Two
fans, one goal that turned into a
project and the project into a dream come true….
Sean: “When the Aviva DVD was released in December
2011, I decided to make a video called "How A Script Fan Watches the Aviva
DVD." Immediately after uploading it, it became somewhat of a hit within
the fanbase. Other fans asked me to start vlogging regularly about the guys, so
I decided to. After making a couple videos, I went to their concert on October
23rd, 2012. After the concert, I met the guys and decided to ask them a
question each and I taped it. I put the video on you tube as part of my vlogs,
and it once again became a really big hit. So I wanted to take it one step
further. I had always had the idea in the back of my mind to try to get a
sit-down interview with The Script, but I always kind of brushed it away,
thinking it wasn't possible”.
This didn't stop Sean from his dream, he continued along his path
“ However, after they announced that they would be
supporting Train on a U.S. tour, with a stop in the city I live in, I decided
to really try and get the interview to happen. I, along with Lauren
@ScriptLoveUK another Script fan, talked and planned how to get the idea in
motion.”
Lauren: “On February 4th this year Sean contacted me
through Facebook about this crazy idea he had of doing an interview with The
Script on behalf of the fans. I'd never heard of anyone doing anything like
this before and immediately I was excited and wanted to help Sean in anyway I
could.
Once Sean knew what I thought about the interview we started
thinking of ways to inform the band and/or the management about it. I suggested
that a youtube video describing exactly what he wanted to do and why would be a
good starting point. It would result in 1 link that could be easily tweeted etc
to the band and other fans. Sean totally agreed and within 4 hours of the video
going up online and being posted on twitter Sean got a DM from Mark saying that
he wanted to do the interview.”
Sean: “ After
about two months of planning it, I put a video on youtube to let other fans
know about my idea and to try to get the guys onboard. Four hours after
uploaded the video, Mark committed to doing the interview. Soon after, Glen
committed to doing it. I was put into contact with management, and set up
several outlets through which fans could submit questions/ideas/ and thank
you's. I think that the fans did an amazing job of helping me along with this,
and I got a lot of participation.”
Lauren: “As soon
as we had Mark on board we knew we could make it happen. After a couple more
youtube videos explaining the project in more detail and emails I sent back and
forth to the management etc it didn't take long before we had Glen on board
too.
Because this was always an interview for the fans conducted
by a fan I had faith it would work and we could make it happen. If Sean had
wanted to do this with any other band/artist I would have had my doubts but I
knew that if anyone was going to do it it was The Script and they proved me so
right.
I think what this interview proved is that when we come
together and work as a team we can do anything. Not just Sean, not just me but
all the fans getting behind this amazing project helped it happen.”
Sean: “ The
interview was so stressful and scary, but I think it turned out very well.
Although Dan didn't do the interview, Mark and Glen were there and so easy to
talk to and made the process so easy. We are so lucky to be fans of these great
guys.”
Sean is currently uploading his video of the interview to
youtube, I will link to this as soon as it is complete. He is also at the
bottom of a very large pile of tweets, he has promised to get to everyone and
he is finding his way through them’
This proves…
