Bo Bruce: Bosses Wrecked My Romance With Danny O’Donoghue

THE VOICE star Bo Bruce says meddling bosses ruined her chance of a romance with judge Danny O’Donoghue.

The singer, who insists their relationship during the BBC show was not a stunt, said The Script frontman ditched her after warnings.

She regrets the bond the pair developed but insists she is not bitter about it. Bo, who wouldn’t name those responsible, told TV Biz: “We were incredibly close and he’s a hot guy. It was a mad time and meeting someone under those circumstances is difficult.

“I was very vulnerable and I regret a lot of things that happened.

“There was such an obsession with whether or not we were together and that put wild amounts of pressure on us.

“In the end a decision was made for him to not be around me. The process of writing my album Before I Sleep began when I was supposed to go with Danny to a Coldplay concert. It was meant to be an end-of-The-Voice present — for him and me. But he was told he was not allowed to, because he couldn’t be seen with me in public.

“So I ended up not going with him but someone took pity on me and invited me to Coldplay’s box, with Coldplay’s agent, who then wanted to sign me.

“So although I said I have regrets about what happened, it led to so many other things.”

Bo — real name Lady Catherine Anna Brudenell-Bruce — bonded with Danny after he split from model girlfriend Irma Mali last year.

But the runner-up, who juggled caring for her terminally ill mum with competing for the show title, said their friendship has since waned. And she admitted she was disappointed that he failed to turn up to her album launch at London’s The Social last week, despite false reports he was there.

Bo, who lost out in The Voice final to Leanne Mitchell, still refuses to confirm or deny that she shared a romance with her Irish mentor.

But she revealed that she has laid bare her feelings about him on her album, including the debut single Save Me.

On the track, which is released with the album on April 29, Bo sings: “You made me want you and I didn’t want to/ Why would you wake me if you’re not going to save me?”

Bo said: “I can’t talk about it openly because it doesn’t just affect me. But I answer everything on my album. It’s fair to say it makes things pretty clear.”
