The Voice UK: It’s official! Jessie J, Sir Tom Jones, Danny O’Donoghue & Will.i.am will be back, and new format revealed

It’s official – all four The Voice coaches, Jessie J, Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Danny O’Donoghue will be back for the new series in 2013.

It had been widely reported that Jessie J wasn’t going to return for the show’s second run, and there had also been speculation that Sir Tom may not be back either.

However, they are all back next year, but it seems that some things will be changing, according to BBC’s Controller of Entertainment, Mark Linsey.

While speaking from the Edinburgh TV Festival, he told the assembled press that as part of the show’s revamp – in view of its ailing viewer ratings during the first series – there will be fewer live shows and more emphasis on the “spinning chairs” which seemed to appeal to fans…

Digital Spy report that he said, “We will be doing less live shows [in series two].

“Those live shows, the audience became over familiar with the grammar.

“It still works on Strictly and X Factor, but audiences became over familiar with it.

“It’s not rocket science to say that the Blind Auditions were the best bit of the series.”

And when asked if the spinning chairs might feature in nearly all of the shows in 2013, he replied, “Yes. We’ll let you know soon.

“I don’t want to give it all away. It will be fine.”
